New York, NY –October 27, 2020 – Barnes & Noble, Inc., the world’s largest retail bookseller, today announced The Cold Millions by Jess Walter as the November 2020 selection for the Barnes & Noble Book Club, a monthly book club designed for readers across the country to discuss the most compelling books. Barnes & Noble is selling a special, exclusive Book Club edition of The Cold Millions as well as hosting a free LIVE virtual event on B&N’s Facebook Page with Jess Walter in conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo, about the book on Tuesday, December 1, at 7pm East Coast Time. Customers can purchase the exclusive edition, featuring an original essay written by the Jess Walter and a discussion guide for book clubs, in-stores or online at BN.com.

“Jess Walter’s The Cold Millions paints a vivid picture of two very different brothers in turbulent, early 20th century Spokane,” said Jackie De Leo, Vice President, Bookstore, Barnes & Noble. “This is an intimate story of sibling bonds and betrayal, of the haves and have-nots, and of love that will keep readers hooked, staying with them long after the final page, which is why we have chosen it as our November 2020 Book Club selection.”

Barnes & Noble is encouraging customers to engage with this important and gripping novel on social media and join the new B&N Book Club Facebook Group, as well as through a special virtual Book Club event a month after publication.

“I am thrilled to have The Cold Millions chosen as the Barnes & Noble Book Club pick for November,” said Jess Walter. “This book is dedicated to my father, and the first book reading of mine he ever attended was at a Barnes & Noble. I’ve also been a judge for the Barnes & Noble Discover Award and have always appreciated the way B&N champions writers. I am grateful to everyone at Barnes & Noble for their support and for helping me bring this novel to readers.”

The virtual event on December 1 will be hosted on Barnes & Noble’s Facebook Page and will include a conversation between Jess Walter and Richard Russo. Before the virtual event, customers can also join in discussion at their convenience in the new B&N Book Club Facebook group and on social media via the hashtag #BNBookClub.
