Barnes & Noble Re-Opens in Long Beach
Author Salina Yoon to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025
Long Beach, CA – November 13, 2025 -Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the grand re-opening of its beloved Long Beach, CA bookstore. The Long Beach Barnes & Noble was opened 29 years ago in November of 1996 and closed temporarily this past May to undergo extensive renovation.
The newly remodeled Marina Pacifica Shopping Center location (6326 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90803) will officially re-open to the public at 10AM PT on Wednesday the 19th, with bestselling author and illustrator Salina Yoon cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books including her newest book, Kat & Mouse: I Like Cheese!.
The Long Beach Barnes & Noble is one of six Barnes & Noble bookstores to open today, just one week after the bookseller opened its 50th new bookstore in 2025. In another milestone, Barnes & Noble now boasts over 700 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023.
Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made through grand opening weekend. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away. They will also receive a free tote on grand opening day.
Everyone who visits the new Long Beach Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.
“We are delighted to maintain the tradition of bookselling here in Long Beach as we have for the past 29 years,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “That we are able to reopen this beautifully renovated bookstore in time for the height of the holiday shopping season is cause for great celebration.”
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers.
Having fallen below 600 locations as recently as 2023, it now has over 700 bookstores. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller will open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Long Beach location is one of four Barnes & Noble bookstores to open in California in November, and one of 14 nationally, alongside stores opening in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
The new design of the Long Beach store showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain. The new Long Beach Barnes & Noble will cover nearly 15,000 square feet and carry all the best books, as well as a wide range of toys, games and the usual paper and gifting items found at Barnes & Noble.
“I am very excited to reopen our doors at the Marina Shopping Center," said Store Manager Luisa Guardado, Barnes & Noble bookseller of four years. “I know our presence has been missed and I'm excited to reengage with this community of readers.”
