“We are very pleased to add to our bookstores in the Lone Star State,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “The rejuvenation of our business over the last few years has been especially marked in Texas where we have opened – or are about to open – over 20 new bookstores. Our booksellers remain busy as they turn their eyes next to the Houston area for the first of a further 6 new Barnes & Noble bookstores opening in the coming months. The total number of stores in Texas will shortly march past 60, a happy milestone.”
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 720 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023. The design of the Huebner Oaks store showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain.
Store Manager Jared Valadez, who has been with Barnes and Noble for 13 years said, “Have you ever had that feeling when you get to do something really, really cool and you get to do it with the people that you love? It’s like I get to build a dream with some of the most special people in my life, and I cannot wait to bring a new Barnes & Noble to my hometown.”
