Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Papillion

Author Lynn Painter to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, April 9^th, 2025

Papillion, NE – April 2, 2025 – Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Papillion, NE bookstore on Wednesday, April 9^th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in Shadow Lake Towne Center (7949 Towne Center Pkwy, Papillion, NE 68046), in the space formerly occupied by Best Buy, next to PetSmart.

The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM CDT on Wednesday the 9^th, with best-selling author Lynn Painter cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including Better Than the Movies and her latest release, Nothing Like the Movies.

The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.

“When we closed our former Crossroads bookstore in 2020, we committed to finding a new location in the Omaha metro area,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “Happily, we have, and our Papillion booksellers cannot wait to welcome customers into their brand-new Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Papillion location is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in April, alongside new stores in Florida, Illinois, and New York. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
