Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Conroe

New York, NY – July 10, 2024– Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Conroe bookstore on Wednesday, July 17^th. The new Barnes & Noble is located at the Conroe Marketplace (2920 Interstate 45N, Conroe, TX 77303) in the space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond, between TJ Maxx and Ulta Beauty.

The bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM CDT on Wednesday the 17^th, with author Kacy Ritter cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her book The Great Texas Dragon Race. The new location showcases the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, housing all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.

“Hot on the heels of our opening in Selma, we have a second new store in Texas,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “It is another beautiful and ambitious new bookstore. If the success of Selma is replicated in Conroe, our booksellers are in for a very busy time. We are delighted to join the community.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing exceptionally strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2023, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 50 new bookstores in 2024.

The Conroe location is one of five new Barnes & Noble bookstores to open on in July, and one of three new bookstores opening on the 17th, alongside a new location in Denham Springs, LA and Lake Orion, MI. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut. It follows the grand opening of a new Barnes & Noble bookstore in Weslayan Plaza in Houston on July 3^rd, and Selma earlier this year. Last year Barnes & Noble opened new bookstores in both Richardson and Flower Mound, bringing the number of Barnes & Noble bookstores in Texas to just short of 50.
