Barnes & Noble Opens More New Bookstores

The bookseller takes over another former Amazon Books and opens on Black Friday, November 25 at 8 am

Lynnfield, MA – November 16, 2022 – Barnes & Noble is very pleased to announce the grand opening of its new Lynnfield bookstore in MarketStreet Lynnfield on Black Friday.  The new Barnes & Noble is situated at 1115 Market Street in Lynnfield Massachusetts, next to Abercrombie & Fitch, in the space formerly occupied by Amazon Books.  It will officially open to the public at 8 AM ET on Friday, November 25^th.

“We are very pleased with the two new bookstores we have built in former Amazon Books stores in Massachusetts.  Legacy Place in Dedham opens this week and looks sensational.  The new bookstore in Lynnfield is a revelation,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble.  “Our booksellers in Lynnfield have a beautiful store with which to work and we look forward to having great fun in it.  This is shaping up to be an exceptionally strong Holiday for books and we are delighted to open in time to enjoy it in MarketStreet.”

Barnes & Noble has been opening new bookstores at an unprecedented rate.  Having opened only one or two new stores each year during the decade after 2009, Barnes & Noble has already opened 16 new bookstores this calendar year and has over 30 further stores in development for 2023.  The Lynnfield location will be the second new Barnes & Noble to open in the Boston area this month, as the bookseller will cut the ribbon at its Dedham store this week, with both taking over storefronts previously occupied by Amazon Books.  The bookseller has further plans for expansion in Massachusetts in the new year, having recently announced it is to open a new bookstore in Natick, as well as three additional storefronts in the state.  

“A bookstore is such an inviting space and we have built a very special one in Lynnfield,” said Store Manager, Kathleen Murphy, a Barnes & Noble Bookseller of 24 years.  “My team and I are creating such an interesting bookstore, one that is far removed from algorithms, and look forward to welcoming our customers this Holiday to our beautiful new home.”
