BELLEVUE, WA – September 21, 2022 – Barnes & Noble is excited to announce the opening of its bookstore at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue. Simultaneously, the bookseller is to close its downtown store at 106 Ave NE from which it has served the community for the past 29 years. The old store is to be demolished for a three-tower, mixed use redevelopment.  Rachel Griffin, local and best-selling author, will open the new store in a ribbon cutting ceremony and book signing at 9:00 am on September 28.  The store is located at 15800 NE 8th Street in the Crossroads Shopping Center next to Old Navy and adds to the booksellers’ fleet of stores in the Seattle area. The bookseller opened in The Village at Totem Lake, Kirkland, in May 2021, amongst a number of new bookstore openings across the country.

“We are very pleased to continue our uninterrupted tradition of bookselling to the Bellevue community,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble.  “Over the past few years, we have seen a renaissance amongst physical booksellers with growing book sales and very successful new bookstore openings. We are delighted to be able to invest in this beautiful new bookstore here in Bellevue. We thank our wonderful team of dedicated booksellers who have worked tirelessly to create this brilliant new store under the leadership of Store Manager David Rossiter, and we thank the Bellevue community for their warm welcome to our move.”

The opening of the new Barnes & Noble follows the news earlier this year that Onni Group are to build 600-foot towers on the land occupied by the booksellers’ downtown location. “We are overjoyed to welcome the Bellevue community into our new location, and I am proud to lead our seasoned team of booksellers that are transferring to this store.  I have had the privilege of being a bookseller at Barnes & Noble for 18 years and am pleased with how we have been able to curate this space with the local clientele at the forefront,” said Store Manager, David Rossiter.  “We already have a host of local author events lined up and are excited for the reintroduction of story times, including with Kobi Yamada, that we will be adding to the calendar.  We have seen an outpouring of enthusiasm on social media from current and future customers and cannot wait to connect with them at our opening!”

Customers can follow updates online and on social media @bnbellevue.
