Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Cupertino, CA
Author Parini Shroff to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, November 4th, 2026
Cupertino, CA – October 28th, 2026 –Barnes & Noble is pleased to announce the opening of its new Cupertino, CA bookstore on Wednesday, November 4th. Located at Cupertino Crossroads (20740 Stevens Creek Blvd), the new store occupies the former Party City space, next to TJ Maxx.
The new Barnes & Noble marks the return of a general bookstore to Cupertino, following the loss over the years of all its historic bookstores. Earlier bookstores included Crown Books, B. Dalton Bookseller and Waldenbooks, as well as the celebrated independent bookstores, A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books and Stacey’s. The new Barnes & Noble is much larger than any of these bookstores, occupying 18,000 square feet and enjoying a prominent position in Cupertino Crossroads. The store includes a Barnes & Noble Café to complement the comprehensive book assortment, as well as the newsstand, vinyl, stationery, toys and games now so well integrated into the bookstore.
The success of Barnes & Noble is evidenced not just by the growth in sales in its existing stores but also in the pace of openings of new stores. The Cupertino store is one of five Barnes & Noble locations to open on November 4th and the company is on track to open 60 stores by the end of 2026. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 735 bookstores, up from fewer than 600 as recently as 2023.
Cupertino Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM Pacific time on Wednesday the 4th, with local author Parini Shroff cutting the ribbon and signing copies of their acclaimed book, Some People. Costume Character Cat in the Hat will also join the festivities and host special storytime events over the weekend.
Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between November 4th and November 8th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.
