Readers are Invited to a Free Virtual Book Club Event Featuring Emily St. John Mandel on Tuesday, May 10th
New York, NY – April 5, 2022 – The Barnes & Noble Book Club pick for April 2022 is Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel.
Every month, Barnes & Noble selects a novel of distinction and power, with a captivating story arc that begs to be discussed, to be its monthly Book Club selection. The B&N Book Club has a powerful track record for propelling books into the bestseller lists and has established the careers of many authors. Booksellers across the country rally behind these books and play an instrumental part in creating their success.
“Traveling through place and time, Emily St. John Mandel’s sixth novel is breathtakingly stunning, with echoes of her previous books, The Glass Hotel and Station Eleven, laced throughout,” says Shannon DeVito, Director of Books at Barnes & Noble. “With influences of family, nature, music and pandemics, this genre-bending tour de force is brought to life with thoughtfully observed elements of humankind. It’s a work of dazzling imagination and storytelling, and I know it will be a soul-affirming treat of a read for our Book Club readers.”
“Sea of Tranquility moves from British Columbia in 1912 to an outpost on the moon in 2401, with stops along the way in other places and eras. There’s a time traveler in it,” says Emily St. John Mandel. “There is also an author living on a moon colony who visits Earth on a book tour. I was delighted to hear that the novel had been chosen as a Book Club pick! I truly appreciate Barnes & Noble’s support of my work and so look forward to hearing from booksellers and readers in the months ahead.”
Barnes & Noble will be hosting a free live virtual event with Emily St. John Mandel on Tuesday, May 10th at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. Emily St. John Mandel will be in a round table conversation with Shannon DeVito, Director of Books at Barnes & Noble, and Miwa Messer, Executive Producer of Poured Over, The B&N Podcast.
