Joe Gorman is Chief Operating Officer of Barnes & Noble, Inc., where he provides logistical and operational leadership across the organization to drive performance, growth, and profitability. Joe joined Barnes & Noble in March 2019 as Executive Vice President of Operations and was named Chief Operating Officer in July 2020.
Mr. Gorman previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Operations at GNC Corporation, where he set the company’s strategic direction for operations while transforming the customer experience. Some of the ways he achieved this were by implementing mobile technology in stores, creating dynamic, consumer-facing omni channel programs, and by realizing operational savings while growing sales.
Prior to that, Mr. Gorman held leadership positions at GameStop and Home Depot. At GameStop, Mr. Gorman created and grew a business unit dedicated to new strategic growth, leveraging the company’s core strengths in tangential businesses. At Home Depot, Mr. Gorman led the operational direction and execution plan for West Coast Division stores and employees.
Mr. Gorman’s experience in retailing and operations has earned him many awards and notable accomplishments such as being named a High Potential Leader and Six Sigma Champion at GameStop and a Six Sigma Champion at Home Depot.
