Barnes & Noble Launches Back-To-Campus Collection Designed by Students at the Savannah College of Art and Design

New York, New York – March 28, 2007 – Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world’s largest bookseller, announced today a unique product development partnership with student artists from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).  Working with SCAD’s Working Class Studio, Barnes & Noble has produced an exclusive “Back-To-Campus Collection,” consisting of nine journals, two pencil pouches, a sketchbook and a canvas messenger bag decorated with student-designed contemporary graphics to be sold in its gift departments.

“Barnes & Noble is excited to be the home of this unique collaboration that resulted in back to school products designed for students, by students,” says Bill Miller, vice president of gift for Barnes & Noble, Inc. “We wanted to offer a collection that spoke to high school and college students. We could not find a better partner than SCAD, whose students have created for us bold and innovative designs.”

The SCAD Back-To-Campus Collection features colorful and graphically-striking contemporary artwork in bold designs that will inspire young minds to explore their creativity. Prices are from $6.95 to $16.95 for a range of stationery and gift products. The collection will be available exclusively in the gift departments of all Barnes & Noble stores nationwide, Barnes & Noble College bookstores, and at Barnes & Noble.com (www.barnesandnoble.com), beginning in July and continuing through September 2007.

Working Class Studio is a product development venture of the Savannah College of Art and Design. Each academic quarter, students are selected as interns to form an interdisciplinary design team led by studio directors.
