Mark Bottini was named Vice President, Director of Stores, in October 2004. Mark’s wealth of bookselling and operational experience serves him well as Barnes & Noble’s Vice President, Director of Stores. He is responsible for the operations of all Barnes & Noble and B. Dalton stores, focusing on increasing store sales, training and recruitment, and our four key competencies – putting the book in the customer’s hand, offering to order the book, offering Membership, and fast cashiering.

As a 16-year veteran of Barnes & Noble, Mr. Bottini has been a member of numerous working groups within Barnes & Noble, which have helped to bring state-of-the-art systems and operational efficiencies to stores.

Mark led the effort to implement Barnes & Noble’s Integrated Store Operations (ISO)program, a “Best Practices” system that has enabled Barnes & Noble stores to reach their goals by bringing together the most effective solutions for daily inventory management.

Mark first joined the Barnes & Noble family as a District Manager for B. Dalton in Salt Lake City.  His career has led him to places like Boston, where he worked as DM for B. Dalton, and to New York as a B. Dalton District Manager.  He moved over to Barnes & Noble as the District Manager for New York in 1995 and moved to Chicago when he was promoted to Regional Director in 1999.  A year later, he moved back to New York as Regional Director.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Vermont.  He spent five years in active duty with the U.S. Army.  Prior to joining us in 1991, he worked for five years for May Department Stores.
