Store Manager The Store Manager is the store’s leader, responsible for meeting or exceeding the store’s sales goals, identifying business opportunities and motivating booksellers. It is the Store Manager’s job to create the finest and most profitable bookstore serving the local community.
Assistant Manager The Assistant Manager is the No. 2 person in the store, involved in every aspect of its operations. This individual is responsible for hiring and training staff, monitoring expenses and doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
Merchandise, Café, Music, and Receiving Managers Managers are also assigned to various specialty areas within a store (Merchandising, Café, Music, Receiving). Depending upon the area of responsibility, they may oversee merchandising and operations and the tracking of sales, returns or inventory. These managers are part of the store’s management team, and may be involved with hiring, training, developing, evaluating and supervising store staff.
Community Relations Manager Community Relations Managers connect Barnes & Noble to our customers in the communities we serve. They are responsible for organizing in-store events – author appearances, book clubs, and Storytimes for children, as well as directing store publicity. This position also requires the ability to nurture ties with local schools, educators and literary and arts groups.
District Manager The District Manager ensures that all Barnes & Noble stores in the district meet or exceed their sales goals and live up to Barnes & Noble’s standards of service and quality. Whenever a store in a district has a problem, needs advice or wants to develop a new program, it turns to the District Manager. The District Manager also identifies best practices across stores and mentors Store Managers. |
